I’ve heard that WEP is weak and can be hacked into easily, if this is the case what else can I do to play my ds online?

you can do and be almost as secure as long as you used a secure password. use numbers and letters- letters being both upper and lower case.

I wouldn’t worry about it. Yes, badly secured wireless connections can be hacked, but this won’t stop you from using the connection. The main problem is if you live in a crowded area and you get people freeloading off your wireless connection, which can slow things down for you. If you don’t have that problem, don’t worry about it.
Unless you have reason to believe that you personally would be targeted.

Yes, WEP is ridiculously weak, no matter what password/passphrase/key you use. It’s hardly any better than no security at all. Unfortunately there is no other option if you want to connect a Nintendo DS wirelessly.
You have to decide whether it’s worth the risk or not. If you’re sure that you’re not at risk from malicious neighbours or “war drivers” then give it a go. But if there are any hackers who might gain access to your network, then there’s the possibility that they could access all your personal data (e.g. credit card details used for online purchases) on ANY machine that’s connected to your router (whether by wi-fi or by a network cable).
It’s your call!
